Faculty Speech Rights and Encouraging Free Expression in the Classroom (HxA Members Only)
In an increasingly polarized age, the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) is here to defend your 1st Amendment rights as faculty and help you promote civil discourse in your classroom. Join Heterodox Academy (HxA) and FIRE for a virtual HxA members-only workshop to learn about your own expressive rights and how to encourage free expression and constructive discourse among your students.
Led by Graham Piro, Faculty Legal Defense Fund Fellow at FIRE and William Harris, Strategic Campaigns Specialist at FIRE, this workshop will include an interactive discussion exercise and give you an overview of:
- FIRE’s campus rights advocacy
- Faculty First Amendment rights and available resources from FIRE
- FIRE’s civil discourse tools available to faculty including Chatham House Rule, Civil Discourse Games, and the Triadic Illumination format
This workshop continues our series of regular HxA workshops exclusively for members, offering practical, interactive sessions year round. Seats are limited. Register today to reserve your spot!
