Building Bridges Across Time and Race
Join the Civility Initiative on April 7th for the story of a powerful and unlikely alliance. Two hundred years ago, the ancestors of Margaret Seidler enslaved the ancestors of Mia McLeod. When Margaret Seidler learned of her family’s connection to the sale of enslaved people in antebellum Charleston, she began reaching out to their descendants. One person she connected with was Mia McLeod, a prominent member of the South Carolina Senate. Margaret and Mia built a unique bond as they reckoned with their families’ and the nation’s history.
This free event is sponsored by the HxA Campus Community at the College of Charleston and open to the public.
